This example is an early MiG-1, probably part of
the first batch of 20 aircraft for evaluation purposes in late 1940.
It is distinguishable from early MiG-3 by:
- the shorter canopy which opens on the side (here removed because it could
not be opened from the interior in case of necessity);
- the smaller radiator;
- the different main undercarriage doors;
- the different tail undercarriage doors;
- probably a tail wheel with slightly smaller diameter.
I don't have photos of this aircraft; the profile was found on Typi Broni monograph,
in an issue of Letectvi Kopsmonautika of 1978, and is similar to one in
"MiG Flugzeuge" numbered 1.
